The 12th Space Debris Workshop
Call for Presentations

We invite submissions on all topics related to space debris problems, including the categories listed below. Presentations that have already been presented at other conferences are also welcome, but please ensure that their submission does not conflict with the copyright policies of those conferences.

We welcome presentations by engineers and researchers that include research results, demonstration outcomes, and technical insights. Presentations intended primarily for company introductions or the promotion of products and services are discouraged. We particularly encourage contributions that foster discussion, knowledge sharing, and future collaboration among participants.

Categories: Observation/SSA, STM, Modeling, Protection, Mitigation, Remediation, Legal Policy,
and others (Constellation, Microsatellite, etc.)

The deadline for submission is 11:59 PM JST, 2:59 PM UTC, August 20, 2026

Abstract Submission

  • An English abstract of approximately 200 words is required for submission. It will be included in the Book of Abstracts distributed to participants.

Figure Submission

  • The abstract may include one figure. Since the application form does not support figure uploads, please submit the figure separately by e-mail to the 12th Space Debris Workshop secretariat (Z-debris-ws12@ml.jaxa.jp) in JPEG, PNG, BMP, or TIFF format. A figure pasted in a “.pptx” or “.docx” file is also acceptable, but please do not convert it to PDF.

Review and Acceptance

  • Abstracts will be selected by considering the content, quality, and number of applications in each category.
  • Acceptance or rejection will be announced via e-mail by late August.
  • Depending on the number of submissions received, we may ask presenters to change their presentation format (oral or poster).

Presentation Language

  • This workshop has Japanese and English sessions. In the Japanese session, presenters speak in Japanese, but their presentation materials and abstracts are provided in English, allowing international participants to follow the technical content.

Presentation Format and Participation

  • All presenters (both oral and poster) are expected to present on-site at the venue.
  • If you face unavoidable difficulties attending on-site, please contact us individually regarding online alternatives.

Poster Presentation Requirements

  • The speaker for a poster session must be an on-site participant. For the benefit of online participants, please submit a pre-recorded video presentation of your poster. Details will be announced later.

Submission of Presentation Materials

  • Although submission of a paper is not required, we kindly ask you to submit your presentation file by the last day of the workshop. The file will be included in the proceedings and published in the JAXA Repository.
